RENOWNED SITARIST, Sri PANDURANG MUTALIK, is the senior most disciple of the renowned Guru and composer, Sri B. SHAMSUNDER, who has the unique distinction of having diplomas in three subjects, SITAR, DILRUBA and HINDUSTANI VOCAL, and who has retired as a Lecturer from the Govt. College of music and Dance, Secunderabad.
Mr.Pandurang Mutalik, born on 27-3-1967, is the son of Sri Venkat Rao Mutalik and Smt. Anila Mutalik the renowned Hindustani Vocalist, who is a retired Principal of the Govt. College of music and Dance, Nizamabad.
Mr. Pandurang Mutalik is the youngest ‘B. High Grade’ SITARIST from Telangana. Mr.Pandurang Mutalik was awarded with the title ASTHAN VIDHWAN of KANCHI KAMAKOTI PEETHAM on 24th September 2014 at KANCHIPURAM in the presence of HIS HOLINESS SRI JAYENDRA SARASWATHI SWAMY JI.
MEMORABLE PERFORMANCES
Recently Pandurang Mutalik and his disciples performed in the “Suraj Kund International Mela” on 13th and 14th February 2016.The program received a thunderous applause and was appreciated by one and all.
On 16th Oct, 1997, Mr. Pandurang Mutalik presented a Sitar recital in connection with a party hosted in Jubilee Hall by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N. Chandra Babu Naidu to welcome the “Duke of Edinburg” His Highness, Prince Philip of England.

Best Teacher Award to Sri Pandurang Mutalik, Lecturer in Sitar for the year 2018
The Prince was so enthralled with and enchanted by the Sitar recital that he came all the way on to the dais and congratulated the Artists and enquired about the Instruments.
On 30th Sept, 1998, on the eve of Dassera, Mr. Pandurang Mutalik presented a Jugalbandi concert along with the Whistle Wizard, Shri K. Siva Prasad, at Puttaparthi, in front of Bhagwan Sri Satya Saibaba. Baba was very pleased and blessed the Artists with silk shawls. The programme was well received and appreciated by the 10,000 odd audience present in the Hall.
On 15th October, 1998, Mr. Pandurang Mutalik, presented a Jugalbandi concert at RAJ BHAVAN, along with the popular flutist Sri Dattatreya. in with a dinner party hosted by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, His Highness Sri C. Rangarajan. to welcome the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Mauritius Sri Naveen Chandra Ramgoolam. The concert was appreciated by one and all, including the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu and other National & International delegates present. Later on the Governor felicitated the artists.
On 24th November, 1998, Mr. Mutalik presented an Instrumental Trio Concert of Sitar, Violin and Flute, at Rajbhavan in connection with a dinner party hosted by His Excellency, Sri C. Rangarajan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, to welcome His Highness, Prince Philippe of Belgium, Mr. Elio Di Rupo, the Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium and his delegation. The dinner was also attended by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu and other dignitaries. The concert was well appreciated by the audience and the dignitaries gave the artistes a standing ovation for their excellent performance.
On January 20th Mr Mutalik performed a Instrumental trio concert with the flute and violin in front of Hon'ble Prime Minister of Singapore at the Jubilee Hall in connection with the luncheon party hosted by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu to welcome the Prime Minister of Singapore and his delegates. The concert was well appreciated by the audience and the dignitaries gave a standing ovation for their excellent performance.
On August 4th Mr Mutalik presented a sitar concert along with flute, violin and veena at Raj Bhavan in connection with dinner party hosted by his Excellency SRI C. RANGARAJAN, Governor of Andhra Pradesh to welcome the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Nepal SRI GIRIJA PRASAD KHOIRALA. The Nepal Prime Minister personally congratulated the artistes. The dinner was attended by Hon'ble Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and other dignitaries.
Later on, the Governor felicitated the artistes and congratulated them for their excellent performance.
On 16th October Mr. Mutalik presented a sitar recital in Jubilee Hall in connection with Dinner hosted by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu to welcome Hon'ble Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr. Mohd. Mahathir and his delegates, the recital was highly appreciated and the artist were felicitated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
PERFORMANCES ABROAD
Mr. Pandurang visited Germany in June 1992 along with Shri Sowmitri Troupe to participate in Musica Sacra International Music Festival in which 32 countries have participated and gave many solo performances at various places like Houfen, Fishman, Osnabruck, Kafeburen and many other cities. The audience were spell bound by his recital.
In the month of October 2000 he participated in Indian Music and Food Festival held in Yemen and gave many solo performances much to the delight of the International Audience. The Festival was inaugurated by his Excellency M.S. Suman, Indian Ambassador to Yemen.
FUND RAISING PROGRAMME FOR KARGIL MARTYRS
On 25th July Mr. Mutalik organised a fund raising programme and performed for the Kargil martyrs in association with “KALARAVALI” the famous cultural Organisation at Ravindra Bharathi. Many popular artistes like Guru SRI B.SHAM SUNDER and his disciples presented popular Instrumental Orchestra SITAR JHANKAR.
RARE JUGALBANDIS
Mr. Mutalik has the unique distinction of participating in Rare Jugalbandis. He performed along with Sri Devarajan, who is a renowned Carnatic Vocalist of Hyderabad. This type of Jugalbandi consisting of Hindustani Sitar & Carnatic Vocal, was performed for the first time in Andhra Pradesh, and perhaps, in India also. The Jugalbandi was held in connection with Jawahar Bal Bhavan Teachers' Awards Day function during Sept. 1997. The performance was highly appreciated by the audience and critics
Mr. Mutalik has performed with whistle wizard Mr. K. Shiva Prasad on many occasions which itself is a unique combination of sitar and whistle.
AWARDS
Mr. Pandurang Mutalik was felicitated on 25th April, 1997, by Kalajyothi Organization by giving him “YUVASHAKTI” award as the best instrumentalist for the year 1996-97, for his contribution to music as a performer, composer and teacher. The award was presented by Sri Chandrasekhar Reddy, Hon'ble Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Pandurang Mutalik was AWARDED SRI. GHANTASALA PANDIT JANARDHAN AWARD on 24th September as the best Sitarist for the year 2006 for Classical and Film Music. It was presented by Ghantasala Sangeetha Samsmarana Kalapeetham, Machilipatnam.
ALBUM RELEASED
Mr. Pandurang Mutalik Released his 1st Audio Album “SOULFUL SITAR “ on 21st November, 2006. The Album was released by Renowned Playback singer PADMASHRI DR. S.P. BALASUBRAMANYAM. The Audio C.D. is one of the most Popular Album of the year.

He has played Sitar in more than 200 movies, many Popular TV – Serials and over 10,000 Audio Cassettes / CDs, under famous music directors like SRI KOTI, SRI M M KEERAVANI, SRI MANISHARMA, SRI MADAV PEDDI SURESH, SRI VASURAO, SRI R.P. PATNAIK and SRI CHAKRI to name a few.
The popular movies for which he has played Sitar are “SRI RAMADASU, PADURANGADU, NUVVA KAVALI, ADI, NETI GANDHI, VENGAMAMBA, LAHIRI LAHIRI LO, STUDENT NO.1, DEVI PUTRUDU, AZAD,ALLARE ALLARI,LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL,SHIRDI SAI and BADRINATH to name a few.
His ambition is to become a very good Sitarist, who could move audiences' hearts and he owes his success to his MOTHER and GURU.
Mr. Pandurang Mutalik is working as Lecturer in Sitar in S.B.R. Govt. College of Music and Dance, Secunderabad.
