Milestones

Govt. School of Music and Dance, Secunderabad was upgraded as Govt. College of Music and Dance, Secunderabad  in the year 1966.

Sri P.V. Narasimha Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Education along with Sri N. Ramesan, Secretary for Finance and Sri T.R. Dass, Director of Technical Education having graced the occasion of the concert of Sri Nerunuri Krishna Murthy, Principal of the college.

Smt. M.S. Subbalakshmi being honoured by Smt.Raghavamma d/o Sri K. Brahmananda Reddy during the Music Concert held in the Music and Dance Festival.

Sri J.Vengal Rao, Hon’ble Chief Minister and Sri C.S.Sastry, Education Secretary has visited the Institution during the celebrations.

The College has introduced Diploma Courses during 1970. 

The college has shifted to new premises with independent building on rent at West Marredpally in year 1980.

In the year 1983, the college transferred from School Education to Cultural Affairs Department.

The college has conducted has Silver Jubilee Celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi from 18th to 21st March, 1983.  Kum. Srirangam Gopalaratnam was the Principal of the college during the celebrations. During these celebrations, many legendary artists had performed and enriched the essence of the classical music.

The College has conducted Kala Parichayam programme from 2004 to 2009 at 100 centres at Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Secunderabad

Sri Rama Chandra , the student of our college had won the INDIAN IDOL, in the year 2010.

As  Govt. had  issued the orders, our college is conduting Jayanthi Celebrations of Sri Bhaktha Ramadasu every year from 2011 at Nelakondapally, Khammam District. Till today, every year of this auspicious celebrations, our staff members and students are participating actively.

In the academic year 2013-14, Sri Peri Srirama Murthy (Violin Lecturer) had received the State BEST TEACHER award.

In the academic year 2014-15, Smt. T. Sharada (Violin Lecturer) had received the State BEST TEACHER award.

In the academic year 2015-16, Smt. Meera Kamble (Hindustani Vocal Lecturer) had received the State BEST TEACHER award.

In the academic year 2016-17, Sri. P.R.C Sharma (Asst. Lecturer in Mridangam) and Sri. Mukundalal Yadav (Asst. Lecturer in Tabla) have received the State BEST TEACHER awards.

In the academic year of 2016-17 , our state’s renowned dance form PERINI NRITYAM  is introduced with the efforts and courage of Mr. Mamidi Hari Krishna , the Director of Language and Cultural Affairs.

In the year 2017, March 15th , the contract post of Asst. Lecturer in Veena dept has been regularized.
