Carnatic Vocal
It was believed that the whole Indian music was in the same form from the time of Bharata’s Natyasasthram till 12 th century. Previously, the Northern parts of India were ruled by Persians and Mughals. So, there was a change in their musical form. From then, that music form had taken up few modifications and presently it is known as Hindustani Music.
As the southern parts of India weren’t ruled by Persians and Mughals, they’ve maintained their own style and had gotten no influence from them. Purandara Das, who was a Vaggeakara belongs to 15 th century had given Abhyasa Gaana compositions in Southern Indian Music. He was from Karnataka. From then, Purandara Das was been called as Karnatic Sangeeta Pithamaha and the musical form in Southern India as Karnatic Music.
Carnatic Vocal is being practiced in the southern parts of our country pretty well. The states Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are enjoying the fragrance of this divine sculpture of INDIAN MUSIC. Many legends like M.S. Subbulakshmi, Mangalampalli Bala Murali Krishna, M.L. Vasantakumari, G.N. Bala Subramanyam, Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana, Nedunuri Krishna murthy, Voleti Venkateswarlu, Srirangam Gopalaratnam, Seshagopalam, J. Yesudas, Bombay Jayashree, T.M Krishna, Sudha Ragunathan, Hyderabad brothers, Hyderabad Sisters, Priya sisters etc are uplifting our Karnatic vocal in the ocean of INDIAN MUSIC.
At present, Smt. J. Sharadha is working as a vocal Lecturer in our college.
